Orangerie Museum PrivateTour - April 6th 2024
While Monet was working on his giant display of waterlilies, a lot was happening in the small world of avant-garde painters in Paris...
Often labeled the Sistine Chapel of Impressionism, the waterlilies at Orangerie are the perfect occasion to dive into the life and work of Claude Monet and learn how the acclaimed leader of the Impressionist group started a new adventure at age 60, a testimony of his lifelong obsession for light.
Apart from Monet's masterpiece, the Orangerie hosts a collection of artworks by Picasso, Modigliani, André Derain, Rousseau, Matisse, Soutine... all of which bring up stories about there lives and adventures in Montmartre and Montparnasse and give us insight on the birth of Modern art in Paris and its diversity.
How was this collection gathered...? That also is quite a story that I can't wait to tell you!
